Furious Clarke Slams Penalty Decision

Steve Clarke Should Remain As Scotland Manager Despite Euro 2024 Exit, Says Kris Boyd

Furious Clarke Slams Penalty Decision

Scotland head coach Steve Clarke has railed against the decision not to award his side a penalty as they crashed out of Euro 2024.

The Tartan Army were beaten by a 100th-minute Kevin Csoboth goal to finish bottom of Group A, but manager Clarke insisted the definitive moment came in the 65th minute when referee Serdar Gözübüyük waved away appeals for a penalty after Lyndon Dykes was bundled over by Hungarian defender Attila Szalai.

Clarke Signs New Deal

Despite the disappointment of the Euro 2024 exit, Scotland head coach Steve Clarke has signed a new deal to remain in charge of the national team until 2026. The Scottish Football Association (SFA) confirmed the news on Tuesday, just days after the team's elimination from the tournament.

Clarke, 59, has been in charge of Scotland since 2019 and has led the team to their first major tournament in 23 years. He has also overseen a significant improvement in the team's FIFA ranking, which now stands at 25th.

Boyd Backs Clarke

Former Scotland striker Kris Boyd believes that Clarke should remain as manager despite the Euro 2024 disappointment. Boyd, who is now a pundit for Sky Sports, said that Clarke has made significant progress with the team and deserves to be given more time.

"I think Steve Clarke should stay," Boyd said. "He's done a great job with Scotland and I think he's the right man to take them forward.

“He's got a good track record, he's a good coach, and I think he's got the respect of the players. I think he's the right man to lead Scotland to the next level.”

Conclusion

The future of Steve Clarke as Scotland manager is uncertain following the team's disappointing exit from Euro 2024. However, if Boyd's comments are any indication, there is still a strong belief that Clarke is the right man to lead the team forward. Only time will tell if the SFA agrees.
